Statement by Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh C. Johnson on United States Secret Service Pay Cap Legislation

Statement

Date: Dec. 14, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

I am pleased that Congress has passed H.R. 6302, a resolution that will raise Secret Service salary caps during presidential election years. Previously, more than a thousand Secret Service employees with protective mission responsibilities were working overtime beyond the capped levels of their salaries--essentially working without pay during this busy election year. As I have said before, the men and women of the U.S. Secret Service deserve our full support, and should be fully compensated for the important work they do.

I thank Congress for their continued support of the Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security.
